My Top Anti-Aging Beauty Products to Get your Body Summer Ready

Eek! Summer is coming and my mirror is telling me that gravity is continuing to take its toll and the wobbly bits seem to look even more wobbly than last summer. If you are feeling like me: less than ready for that bikini, then have a look at some of my picks to get your body looking its best!

As we get older, it’s not only the skin on our faces that ages. The skin on our bodies also starts to age and doesn’t look as firm as it once did. Collagen and elastin aren’t produced as fast as they were in our youth and they begin to deteriorate so skin loses its suppleness and tone. There are some lovely and effective anti-aging products to help us along. And here are some of my favs:

Nivea scores huge points with their huge variety of body-care items (my bathroom shelf is full of Nivea products). My favourites at the moment are Nivea Firming Body Lotion with Q10 plus and Nivea’s Firming Cellulite Gel –Cream.

The Firming Body Lotion is great for all over the body. I find that my skin really does look firmer and more toned when I use this product and if you want to start using it too, you should begin to notice an improvement in your skin in about three weeks of regular use. It is slightly more expensive than your regular body lotions, you can expect to pay around R70,00 for a 400ml bottle.

The Firming Cellulite Gel-Cream is absolutely awesome for those problem areas! It is enriched with the co-enzyme Q10, Natural Lotus Extract and L-Carnitine. Though they have had to come out and say that there is no proof that applications to the skin will visibly reduce cellulite (there was some furore about a claim Nivea made in an ad a few years back), I have been using this product on and off for a while and I can definitely see a difference in my silhouette when I use it.

NIVEA Q10 Gel-Cream

If I am not using it, I get a more defined little hump over my jeans (I call it a “chicken licken” hip). Sometimes I get lazy and I forget to use it for a week or so and then that “chicken licken” hip is back. I never had this when I was younger so it is obviously a type of “middle-aged spread” thing happening! A tube of this will set you back about R79,00. Go to Dischem, they always seem to be cheaper than anywhere else!

For really good value for money you cannot beat Palmer’s! Palmer’s Cocoa Butter contains Vitamin E and consistent use will help to smooth out the marks and discolorations that tend to set in as we get older, as well as improve your skin tone.

Palmers

I adore the scent, but they now have a scent-free one if you aren’t partial to the smell. Dischem sell a pump action one and the prices vary. I think I bought my last bottle for about R49,00, but my memory is a bit hazy (old age!). I also love the Body Gloss, but that is a little oily, so I only use it on my legs and arms when I have a bit of a tan to enhance the tan and improve the look of my skin in summer. Take a look at Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Reviews for more information.

If you were wondering which beauty products to splurge on, my favourite anti-aging body lotion has got to be Decleor’s Excellence DeL’Age Youth Revealing Body Cream.

Decleor Excellence Body Cream

It contains essential oils and plant oils including Manilkara Extract which promotes collagen and elastin production and prevents deterioration. It is a bit pricey though – R795,00 online for a small tub.

As far as splurge anti-cellulite goodies are concerned, I would love to try Filorga;s new meso-sculpt cellulite blitzer! It consists of a little stimulating roller and a spray full of cellulite busting goodies.

How it works is the little roller makes tiny punctures in the skin so that the product can penetrate extra-deep. Apparently its painless, although it sounds like a medieval torture system! This product will set you back R1895,00 though!
