Beauty Bulletin had several ladies pose questions about hair myths and we got some great insights which detangled them once and for all.
Lets take a look on what the verdict was for each of one of these hair myths:We at Beauty Bulletin are delighted to lay a few hair myths at rest, thanking our helpful Pantene Hair Myth Chat. We had several ladies pose questions and we got some great insights which detangled these hair myths once and for all. Lets take a look on what the verdict was for each of one of these hair myths:
Using certain foods will improve the condition of your hair? Mmmm, a delicious source of vitamins for one’s hair or “do me a favour and save it for dinner thank you!”
Zharina gave us some insight and said: “Lemon juice cleared my dandruff. Avo and coconut oil made my hair thicker and added volume. She also agrees with using eggs as a form of conditioner. Mayonnaise and beer, however are a big no, no for her as she believes they actually make her hair more dry and let’s not get onto the smell of your hair afterwards…
Jessica said “I’d be more inclined to use oil and an egg yolk on my hair rather than mayonnaise, which has salt and spices in it!!” “Apple cider vinegar is a great cleanser for hair and adds shine, but I prefer to consume it”
We then had Tash also opposed to the idea of using mayonnaise and beer saying “I have tried mayonnaise and beer on my hair…it was disgusting. I never noticed any change.”
Other ladies on the chat also felt eggs, avo or even a banana masks does wonders for your hair. But the general consensus ladies, stay away from the mayonnaise and beer!!
As Maria Meyer put it : “My word, some of the things people have put their hair through – maybe we should leave the baking and cooking in the kitchen. LOL”
Another myth discussed was the concern that washing your hair every day is bad for your hair.
Jessica and Demi were particularly concerned on this matter and they got a few replies which resulted in this question being a hair myth.
We had Megan, Nadine, Azraa and Wendy all agree that depending on your lifestyle it is a personal preference on how often you should wash your hair. Everyone’s hair is different. If you gym frequently and you sweat or you have exceptionally oily hair that causes bad skin on occasion it is perfectly fine to wash your everyday. These ladies were also inclined to agree that many of the Pantene products are formulated to improve the condition of your hair even with daily use.
Ever wondered what the big deal around horse shampoo is? Is it true it makes your hair grow?
Kat has also heard the rumour that horse shampoo makes your hair grow but she has not tried it. Tzaar wonders what the so called ingredients in horse shampoo are that make your hair grow. … But these ladies were quickly given the answer by many other experienced users of horse shampoo saying IT DOES NOT WORK!!! I think you ladies understand it is therefore a hair myth!
Now for some more interesting hair myths which were also touched on. Tess Coetzee commented and said “I had no idea the pill can cause hair loss!!! Hmmmm…children or no hair??? That is the question” And To which Megan replied “now that you mention it, I was on the pill for 3 years, and found my hair would go through malting stages. Zharina along with many other ladies agreed that the pill may cause hair loss but it is not major or hardly ever noticeable so needn’t stress your pretty heads off ladies!
Last but not least, the infamous hair myth: A final rinse in cold water is good for hair as it softens hair, closes the pores preventing excess oil and gives it a beautiful shine.
This was a hair myth question many ladies seemed to believe to be the same. Jessica, Maryanne, Preshika and Adele all said their hair appears to be far more shinier when rinsing with cold water. Whether it closes the pores and prevents excess oil is yet to be resolved.
After our Pantene Hair Myth discussion, we can now all give a huge sigh of relief to understanding what our hair truly needs as opposed to wasting our time on myths that simply do not work.
