Is Botox going out of fashion?

I am now on the WRONG side of 40 (shudder) and despite people assuring me that I don’t look my age, I am starting to notice more and more little fine lines appearing around my eyes. I have begged my hubby on more than one occasion to allow me to go for Botox, but he flatly refuses! He says there is just no way he is paying for poison to be injected into his wife’s face. Meh!!

I came across these photos of Kim K and I must say I am inclined to agree with him now. Shew, that is definitely a “frozen face”. I have heard that she loves the song “Young and beautiful” by Lana del Rey (don’t you just love Lana!?) , but this is just taking it a bit too far! Kanye, what are you doing to this poor woman? Check out this before and after picture of Kim K. Major difference!

Botox has long been hailed the ultimate quick fix for wrinkles and is often accompanied by fillers to smooth and plump out your skin. If you had access to Botox you had access to the fountain of everlasting youth without having to resort to going under the knife.

Botox, when injected into your skin, blocks the signal from the nerve to the facial muscle. The facial muscle then becomes paralysed and the wrinkles are smoothed out. Indeed, if Botox is used on the upper half of the face, natural results can be achieved. It is when Botox is injected into the lower half of the face that it gives the face that expressionless, frozen look. I have seen quite a few celebrities looking like plastic dolls and it isn’t a great look. It is often made worse by injecting collagen into their lips, so they have a trout pout on top of the frozen expression. Melanie Griffiths and Nicole Kidman are just two celebs that come to mind!

Botox is now being shunned by a lot of celebrities in favour of more natural treatments ( Gwyneth Paltrow is one of them). These women say that they would rather look radiant and fresh than frozen in time. Laser treatments, peels and a revolutionary treatment with radio-frequency energy are a few of the more natural options available. The energy treatment promises to stimulate the production of collagen so that skin is left looking naturally plump and firm.
Now how do I convince hubby to pay for that radio-frequency energy treatment!!?
