NYX Cream Eyeshadow

I love this eyeshadow. I was lucky enough to be given two of them as part of a gift: Deep Blue and Silver. All I can say is WOW.

When I first received them I thought they were just cheapies. That thought ended the moment I used them. They apply with vibrant and strong colours. Once dried, they didn't budge (they dry fast so don't faff when applying). They lasted all day.

I am obsessed with this new discovery and I can't wait to try more NYX products. I also really want this shadow cream in PURPLE!

I am embarrassed to admit that I have never tried NYX Cosmetics, I have only really made googly eyes through the shop windows but when receiving this in last month's Ruby Box, I was more than excited to give it a try. I think that it has something to do with their 3 letter branding, and the overall appearance of their products that makes it feel like "high" quality - much like MAC. Also, before trying this, I had never tried cream eye shadows, although I have been tempted I haven't found one that I was ready to purchase just yet. So with all that established, let's just put it as this being a whole new experience with no expectations. I have to admit that I would put this down as a summer must have if you are looking for a simple look with zero effort. Reason being is, it is water resistant so no worries about that dreaded fading or worse - running! Don't expect to be able to blend with these, basically once you apply it to your eye, the way you have applied it, is the way it is going to remain for the entire day. You have to be quick in applying it, as it dries very quickly and if you rub too much over it, it peels and looks dreadful! It should also be noted that after applying, to keep your eye closed to the count of 5 to ensure a clean look. I have to admit though, after playing around with it a bit and adjusting to "cream" shadows, overall I am happy with this product. I feel that it is smoother than normal shadows but is not as versatile. I have 01 frost beige which I am crazy about as I love neutrals as well as this shimmer brings out my eyes. I feel that this is great for any look, whether you just want to add some quick eye shadow or do a whole done up look with eye liner, mascara, etc. This is exceptionally high pigmented and I think that the packaging is really cute and conveniently sized for any make-up essentials bag (especially when you have to pack light for holidays!). Also, I love that this is not tested on animals!

NYX cream eye shadow
I was so happy during a recent tour of Clicks when I saw that a few of the raved about NYX products have finally arrived on our shores. You can now purchase the cream blush, jumbo pencils and these babies:
NYX cream eye shadows. They come in tubes that look like lipgloss, with a sponge tip applicator. You can dab on a lot for a really intense look, or a little and blend for a subtle pretty look.
These are really pigmented, come in a good range of colours and last all day. The only problem is if you’re not careful you could confuse them with the liquid liners as they are right next to each other on the display case.
I bought Musk and Oolong Tea. Musk is a coppery pink and Oolong Tea (don’t you just love the name?) is more coppery brown. To be honest I bought them because I liked the names and I was too scared to try peacock – a bright teal. I will probably go back and get more.
The price is good at R80 and really you only need a small amount to it should last for ages.
