I needed a nighttime cream and oddly enough I did not realize this was tinted! I then used it in the day and if you only need a light coverage foundation then this could actually work really well. It costs R18 which is absolutely ridiculously cheap. It does not cover up bad skin completely but if used with a concealer you could definitely use this as a foundation.

Essence Pure Skin Anti-Spot Moisturizer claims to fight redness and provide a mattifying & skin refining effect. The tube holds 75ml and the packaging states that it can also be used as a makeup base. It also states that it has been proven effective by dermatologists.
My experience with this moisturiser is kind of the opposite of what it claims. If you really struggle with redness, you're likely to have really sensitive skin too. This moisturizer contains a bunch of alcohol and witch hazel, which is fine for people with slight redness, but not for everyone.
If you suffer with acute redness or rosacea, witch hazel has an inflammatory effect on the skin and exacerbates the condition. Needless to say, you should steer clear.
For less sensitive skin, this moisturiser does make a great makeup base and it does help to clear spots & mattify the skin. If you don't suffer with sensitive skin & your skin is normal-combination, this will work well for you.
