Applying primer like a pro is simple if you follow these simple rules.

Step 1: Begin by applying your moisturiser. Putting any make-up on top of dry skin will spell uneven coverage. Be sure to let the moisturiser sit for a few minutes to allow it to absorb.

Step 2: Pump a pea sized amount of primer into your hand. Using your fingers or a foundation sponge dab the primer onto your skin. Start in the centre of your face and work your way out. Remember a little goes a long way here, too much primer tends to make foundation form into little balls.

Step 3: Gently blend the primer into your skin, ensuring you cover all areas evenly. Pay extra attention to areas where make-up tends to wear off quickly, like your t-zone.

Step 4: Many primers are not gentle enough to be applied to the sensitive skin on our eyelids, luckily make-up houses like Smashbox have developed primers specifically designed for the eye area. Simply rub some onto the eye lids to ensure your shadow lasts all day.

Step 5: Always wait a few minutes for your primer to absorb before applying your make-up.

Step 6: To set your make-up dust on some finishing powder and you’re good to go
