World Innovation from NIVEA Deodorant: Black Stays Black, White Stays White and this is their skin care motto.
Black and white, these classic shades suit everyone and work for any occasion. Elegant black is timeless – think Coco Chanel’s little black dress. White is fresh, light and romantic. Unfortunately, black and white are the colours with the worst tendency to show what no one likes seeing: deodorant stains.
Luckily NIVEA Deodorant has been researching this problem, and has finally found a solution: a deodorant that leaves no white marks on dark fabrics and also avoids yellow staining on light-coloured textiles.
New NIVEA Invisible For Black and White Clear deodorant, not only offers you 48 hours of protection against underarm perspiration and odour, but also protects against clothing stains.
There are two types of deodorant stains: firstly the white marks that appear on dark shirts immediately after applying your deodorant, Dr Stefan Biel from Beiersdorf Research and Development, explains, “These are due to residues of the antiperspirant salts used in the deodorant, which are a temporary annoyance, but do wash out.” The second type of stain, yellowish stains in the underarm area, which appear on light fabrics, appear only after several machine washes. These stains eventually won’t come out with laundry detergent and they get more noticeable over time as the fibres of the textile harden. This can make the clothing un-wearable. “The cause of this stain is due to a chemical reaction in the washing machine when the antiperspirant additives and sweat absorbed in the textile are combined with water and detergent. It is worse when washing at low temperatures. This causes yellow-coloured deposits that remain stuck in the fibres. With every wash the fabric becomes more and more yellow and inflexible,” explains Dr Biel.
NIVEA has formulated the solution to both of these problems in one deodorant. White stains on dark fabrics are ‘no more’ thanks to NIVEA’s formulation, which makes the antiperspirant salts which cause white marks, invisible.
After years of research, NIVEA has got to the root of the second problem: stubborn yellow stains. NIVEA’s new Invisible For Black and White deodorant is formulated with a special textile protection technology, which ensures that substances that cause staining cannot adhere so effectively to the fibres of clothing, so they’re easier to remove in the washing machine.
Invisible For Black and White deodorant’s effectiveness has been proven: Black stays black. White stays white for longer*. It combines mild NIVEA care with invisible 48-hour antiperspirant deodorant protection – and a naturally elegant scent with floral, green and aquatic notes. All NIVEA deodorants are free of alcohol and colourants and have dermatologically confirmed skin compatibility.
