Beauty blogger Leigh van den Berg got treated to an indulgent Orlane facial. Jealous?
I love facials. There’s nothing more relaxing then lying on your back while exotic lotions and potions are gently massaged into your face to leave you looking like a glowing, more radiant version of yourself. This is why I jumped at the chance to experience an Orlane facial at Edgar’s V&A Waterfront. (Did you know they have three little treatment rooms tucked away at the back of the store? I also learned that Orlane isn’t pronounced OR-LANE, but OR-LAAN, like ‘sevende laan’.
My treatment began with a quick skin analysis. As I’m an oily T-panel kinda girl (blot powder is my best friend), my therapist, Yulin, decided to cleanse and tone my skin using products from the brand’s Puréte program, created specially for adults with shiny skin. The line contains an exclusive ‘sebo-regulating complex’ containing a special mushroom with purifying and toning properties.
Once cleaned up, I was treated to two ultra-indulgent serums. The first, Orlane Super-Moisturizing Serum, R1 245,00, is very clever in that aside from giving your skin a mega-dose of moisture, it also helps stimulate the production of more hyaluronic acid. (This particular little acid is important because it binds to the water in your skin like a sponge, plumping it up). I also loved its gentle fruity scent, which makes it a true sensory indulgence.
Glow-booster number two was Orlane Absolute Skin Recovery Serum, R1 430,00. It helps eliminate toxins linked to tired, stressed out skin and ‘boost your skins energy levels’ thanks to the brands hero ingredient, B21. Yulin describes B21 as ‘liquid energy for the skin’, saying it’s a complex of natural ingredients that help stimulate microcirculation, which in turn increases skin’s youthful-looking radiance.
Once ‘serumed’ to the max, I was hooked up to Orlane’s Thermo Vehicular System. This involved placing a mask on my face that gradually heated up to the perfect temperature for optimum product absorption. (During this time, I was given the most heavenly hand massage, ensuring all my deadlines and Christmas shopping drama melted away within minutes…).
Once my facial ended, I felt relaxed, smelled divine and looked like I’d woken up from a 100 year sleep, skipping out on any pillow creases on my cheeks. I’m quite sure that if the well-rested, radiant-looking Sleeping Beauty had a make-up bag, it definitely contained Orlane.
Yulin van Rooyen is Orlane’s traveling therapist and works at selected Orlane counters in Cape Town. The following Edgar’s stores that stock the luxurious French brand are Clearwater, Red Square Fourways, Red Square Bryanston, Sandton, Red Square Irene, Menlyn, Westville, V&A, Canal Walk, East Rand Mall and Eastgate.
