As promised, as a follow up to our previous advice on how to treat mature skins – here are some tried and tested makeup tips and techniques for Lips and cheeks!
Many older women will complain about their lipstick not staying on long enough…but what can be done to alleviate this problem? Let’s see, shall we?
1. Wear a lip primer under your lipstick. It helps “glue” the lipstick to your lips. Try MAC prep’n prime Lip primer! It adds moisture and refines the wrinkles and lines on the lips.
2. There are many longer wearing lipsticks out on the market. They are not recommended if your lips are dry, however they are great for those special occasions when you absolutely have to look fabulous darling, or when you are wearing a sexy red lip and you don’t want it ending up on the rim of your champagne glass! (ouch!)
3. As you age. Your natural lip line may fade. Use a nude lip liner to ‘shape’ your lips, even drawing it slightly outside your natural lip-line to make lips appear fuller! It doesn’t matter if your lipstick is darker than you lip-liner – as long as it isn’t the other way around!
4. If you have always worn a matte lipstick, why not switch to one of the fabulous new glossy lipsticks on the market? Or add a touch of sparkly gloss over you normal lipstick? It will take years off your look we promise!
Cheeks? Keep cheeks looking fresh with a bit of creamy blusher. Never tried it before? Cream blusher does wonders for mature and/or dehydrated skins. But don’t just take our word for it. Try it out! Apply with a firm, stubby blusher brush, or dab on gently with your 3 middle fingertips.
Take little amounts at a time, and press onto the skin until you get the desired result.
Try Bobbi Browns Pot Rouge in ‘Flushed Rose’ for gorgeously blushing cheeks ! Is this the makeup tip for you?
