Eyebrows are so hot right now and you can’t afford to let yours go untamed… read these fast and fabulous tips on how to brow up…
Celebs are putting a huge focus on their eyebrows and why? Because they frame your whole face, open it up and gives your peepers huge definition and best of all, take years off your look!
Finding the right brow shape for your face isn’t too hard – your natural brow probably already arches in the right place and just needs some styling and shaping! The most common shape is slightly squared off at the nose with an arch two thirds of the way along and a tapered end!
If you not going to a professional to get your eyebrows shaped here’s how to do it yourself…
You’ll need: a good pair of angled tweezers (the quality of your tweezers make all the difference!), a white pencil, eyebrow brush and comb, nail scissors, angled stiff brush and powder or eyebrow pencil and GREAT light!
Follow these steps for beautiful brows…
The best time to pluck your brows is after showering or bathing when your pores are open and the hair is softer (it won’t be as painful). Make sure your face is free of makeup and moisturizer so that the tweezers don’t slip! Quick tip: If you can’t wait to pluck use a hot towel over your brows to open the pores..
Start with trimming. Brush the eyebrow hairs upwards with a brow comb and trim any hairs over the top line of the brow with nail scissors. Brush the hairs down and trim again if necessary to get rid of any long hairs
Using the brow brush, brush the brow back into shape. You can now see the hairs that need to be plucked out with the tweezers.
Dip a small flat angled brush into some brow powder, then with upward strokes sketch your ideal brow shape.
Use a white pencil to colour under the lower line of the shape you want, making sure both sides are even – the hairs you’ve drawn over are the ones to pluck.
Time to pluck…
Now that you have your ideal shape (and here’s a tip gals, don’t stray too far from your natural brow line) it’s time to pluck! Always pull in the direction in which the hair is growing, it is less painful and the hair is less likely to break.
Pluck hairs one by one, a line at a time, making sure each root is in the area you want to pluck. Start at the side of your brow nearest your nose and work outward.
Pluck below the brown line removing all the hairs in the lid and socket area.
Any obvious stray hairs above the brow can be plucked, but generally it’s better to trim or bleach hairs above the brow line rather than pluck whole lines as this thins the brows too much.
Make your eyebrows really stand out once you’ve got them groomed and glam by getting them tinted for extra effect!
Some brow bits…
Your eyebrows should begin in line with the inner corner of the eye and be a full eye-width apart.
The highest point of the arch should fall above the outer edge of your iris (that’s the middle of your pupil!)
Here’s a tip : hold a pencil or brush in front of your nose and tilt it diagonally to the outer corner of your eye. Follow the same line up until it meets the brow to find the outer point. Depending on your brows, you may want to extend them up to this point with a brow pencil or pluck any stray hairs so it looks neat and tidy.
If you have full eyebrows embrace them! Heavy brows are all the rage in Celebville- but ensure that you keep them neat, groomed and gorgeous!
Always be cautious when plucking- less is more! Pluck less than you think as you can’t grow your brows back in a flash!
