Before you get that celeb inspired hairstyle. As we all know celebrities are some of the biggest trendsetters and when it comes to hair it’s no different. To name a few, there’s been the Rachel by Jennifer Aniston and the bob by Victoria Beckham. Other celebs that had popular hairstyles include Halle Berry. Unlike clothing and make up, when you follow a hair trend most often you’re stuck with it long after the trend has passed. So here are a few things to consider before you get that celebrity inspired hairstyle.
Your job:
After much contemplation you finally decided on getting your hair cut like Miley Cyrus’ pixie or dyed your locks purple like Kelly Osbourne and you love the outcome. Your boss however doesn’t share your sentiment. Unfortunately certain businesses prohibit certain hairstyles and unnatural hair colours. If you work in a professional environment you may have to adhere to a strict dress code, unless you’re the boss or work in a creative field.
Your skin tone:
You should really think about this if you’re going to dye your hair at home. Most celebrities have world class colourists to ensure that their hair color matches their skin tone. When Rihanna’s fiery red hair was trendy I knew a girl who dyed her hair in a similar shade, but instead of looking great the colour completely washed her out and she looked as pale as a ghost.
Your hair texture:
This is extremely important. If your hair texture is not the same as the celebrity whose hairstyle you’re trying to emulate, it may fail completely and you’ll end up leaving the salon looking like a poodle. Even if it does end up looking good, you’ll be spending insane amounts of time, money and hair products to keep it looking decent.
Your face shape:
It is equally as important that if you’re going to get your hair cut, that the style will match your face shape as well. As much as I love Emma Watson’s short do, I know that it will not look good on my heart shaped face.
Long hair doesn’t grow over night:
Unless hair extensions are easily accessible to you, think twice about getting that pixie hair cut. Celebrities can afford to change their hairstyles on whim, the average woman on the street is not so fortunate.
It’s expensive to maintain:
If you’re going to lighten or darken your hair you’ll have to go for frequent touch ups in order for it to look decent. Your purse may end up suffering from it.
You’ll look every second girl, her best friend and her mother:
Once a celebrity hairstyle becomes a trend, you will bump into at least half a dozen women will get it. If you don’t mind this go ahead and get that hairstyle you so want!
