Love Makeup? Want to know who is who and who is wearing what? Read here for some top makeup trends.
We all have those days where we just want to crawl back under the duvet and go back to sleep, but sometimes we just have to put our big girl broeks on and go forth and conquer the day. Here are some classic makeup tips that may help you boost your mood and make the most out of your day.
Red is a power colour. If you don’t have a red lipstick yet, go out and buy one right now. There is nothing like this bright pop of colour to lift you right out of the doldrums and, of course, a little bit of retail therapy never hurt anyone (except maybe our wallets)! Red is an energising colour, so using red lipstick may make you feel more awake and alert, as well as being a major confidence booster. My fav at the moment is Kanebo Sensai Tsuyabeni Lipstick. This bright, bold red lippy was worn by Kristen Stewart in Snow White and The Huntsman. Love her or hate her, she nearly always looks great except when she is giving birth to vampire/human hybrids, but I digress. This lipstick is so awesome that they also used it on the gorgeous Bond ladies in Skyfall. It actually contains gold and silk, so having this little beauty in your make-up arsenal will definitely elevate your spirits!
The colour pink invites love and affection, so if you are looking for a little love in your life, why not splash out on a pretty pink home manicure. I love YSL’s Manucure Couture collection which contains a stunning candy pink shade.
The colour blue is often associated with peace and tranquillity, so if you are looking for more serenity in this chaotic lifestyle we all lead, why not dust on a little aqua or blue eyeshadow for a calming effect. Mac Heavenly Creature Mineralize eyeshadow in Blue Moon is stunning. If you want to wear blue eyeshadow without looking like a throwback to the disco era, wear navy eyeliner instead of black and keep the rest of your make up natural. A nude lipstick with a gloss works brilliantly with this look.
Green is a relaxing shade that has healing properties. Green is also sometimes said to be life-affirming. Green is such a neutral shade that it can easily be incorporated into your day to day look. I am loving Yardley’s Stayfast Velvet in Marsh Green at the moment. Fairer skins should stick to pastel shades of eyeshadows, medium skinned ladies can go for more olive shades, while dark skinned gals can get away with gorgeous forest coloured green tones.
Peach is a wonderful alternative to pink when you are looking for a blush to warm up your skin. Peach is the colour of charm and may bring you courage, so how about wearing peach blush to your next job interview or difficult meeting! Peach is also a colour that signifies good health as it brightens up drab, grey skin while it warms up your skin tone. Maybelline used to have a gorgeous peach shaded blush in their Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse Foundation range, which sadly has been discontinued (sniff sniff), but Yardley has a lovely peach blush in their Yardley Stayfast range called Cashmere, that is guaranteed to give your face a warm glow.
