Suddenly everyone is thinking roaring 1920s since the release of The Great Gatsby last week. The 1920s glam girl wore her hair in set curls, with side partings and glitzy hair accessories. The celebs are all going for the 1920s hairstyle, and you can even do it at home- though it does require a bit of work. It’s totally worth it though, because you can’t get more vintage chic than this S-wave faux bob up-do.
Roaring 20s up-do step-by-step:
.Wash your hair, condition well and blow dry with a large round brush to create volume. Spray lightly with hair spray.
.Part the hair in a wide and straight side parting.
.Take thick sections of hair and curl them forwards with a medium barrel curling tong. You should curl about 9 sections from the thicker side of hair, and 3 from the thinner side.
.Clip the curls in with section clips or long bobby pins with a light hairspray. Don’t overdo it though, as you want to keep hair shining.
.Gather the length of your hair into a low ponytail. Take sections of the hair in the ponytail and curl outwards from the centre with your heated curling tongs.
.Take out the clips and brush your hair out gently with a wide bristle brush. Settle your hair into the finger waves carefully, following the existing curls. Do this the whole way around your head, but keeping the parting defined.
.Use your clips to pin the waves in place all around your head, making sure the curled waves fall neatly all around the face and over the pony tail.
.Keep the clips in for as long as possible. Half an hour is sufficient, but leave them in for as long as you can if you plan on doing some dancing in your do.
.Remove the section grips very carefully- do not move those gorgeous S-waves!
.Back brush your ponytail lightly for extra volume. Spin the ponytail curls in on themselves, and secure them with pins and hairspray. Don’t worry is they are uneven, the main focus is on the waves around your parting.
.Curl the end of the front section towards your face.
.Finish off your fabulous Great Gatsby faux bob with a piece of hair jewellery, secured to the front section or on top of the bun.
Enjoy your glam and chic Great Gatsby-inspired hairstyle, it’s sure to turn some heads!
