Feed your Skin!

Ladies, it is so important to listen to your body and skin. Some things may taste yummy, but don’t necessarily agree with you. It can be that it makes you break out; feel bloated or even, in some cases, get rashes. This is your body’s way of telling you, “NO I don’t need this”.

I am going to give you a few short tips on how to feed your skin.

 #1 H20 – Hydrate:
I know this is said EVERYWHERE and for EVERYTHING, but it is the most important thing for your body and skin. Water doesn’t have to be boring. You can always add some lemon, orange, mint or strawberry’s in to make it a little more exciting.

#2 Gluten – Diet:
Does anyone suffer from Keratosis pilaris, also known as “chicken skin” on the back of your arms? Well, I do. I recently found out this has to do with Gluten intolerance. Gluten is found in almost every carbohydrate (rice, pasta etc). The good news is that the world is becoming a lot more knowledgeable about this intolerance, so there are plenty alternatives on the market.

#3 Food to feed your skin – Diet:
1.Avocado: Contains Vitamin E which strengthens the collagen in the skin. Contains good fats great for dry, undernourished skins.
2.Nuts & Seeds: Another good source of Vitamin E. Keeps skin lubricated and restores damaged skin (now you know why a lot of creams are almond, shear butter).
3.Olive & Flaxseed Oil: Keeps the skin supple. This can also be applied on the face or hair. It also has anti-inflammatory properties in it. This will help with preventing the formation of wrinkles.
4. Green Tea – Learn to like it! I’m talking about real green tea, not the iced tea flavoured green tea that is loaded with sugar. Green tea has some amazing properties to it. Not only is it said to prevent skin cancer, but it maintains your skin as well as releasing antioxidants which can repair cell damage. Why do you think Chinese people have such radiant skin?

#4 Moisturise – Cream up:
It is so important to feed your skin on the outside with a moisturiser every day, as well as sunscreen if you are going to be in the sun. If you wear makeup, then you need to make a habit of taking it off at night. If you are lazy, then buy yourself some makeup wipes. Keep them next to your bed and you can be done in less than 2 minutes.

#5 Sweat – Sauna, Gym, Face Steaming:
Every now and again, a good sweat session is very good for your skin to let your pores open and cleanse themselves. A simple way to do this is to get some boiling water in a bowl, add some essential oils if you like and put your face near the steam cover with a towel. Do this for as long as you can handle. 10minutes is suggested.

Hope this brings a bit of new ideas, and remember to listen to your body and skin!
