In my mind, there has not been a more glamorous era than the 1920s- slim and simple dresses, with a whole lot of glitz and tassels. And let’s not forget the waves, feathers and headdresses. That’s my kind of getup. Everyone’s talking about The Great Gatsby film, which premiered in South Africa last week, and for good reason. The hairstyles, outfits and sets are completely dazzling- if only one could jump into the screen! It’s no wonder the red carpet celebs have been showing off their 1920s-inspired hair do’s… finger waves, loads of shine and ornamental hair jewels are in!
Four gorgeous variations of the 1920’s up-do at this year’s Golden Globe Awards:
Top:
Michelle Dockery wears her hair in a soft, chin-length bobs with soft curls. Naomi Watts wears her hair curled under in the classic faux-bob hairstyle.
Bottom:
Amy Adams has her finger-waves loose, and Taylor Swift has her waves swept off her face.
Blake Lively (who was rumoured to be considered for the role of Daisy Buchanan) wears a 1920s inspires side parting in her cascading soft curls. Coupled with large stud earrings.
Tyra Banks wears a perfect s-wave fauxe bob.
Drew Barrymore looks fabulous with her 1920s do, coupled with beautiful hair accessories.
Classic and cute: Nicole Ritchie shows off her Great Gatsby-inspired hair.
Our very own Charlize looks superb in her fauxe bob. Doesn’t she look like Greta Garbo?
