Dark & Lovely Au Naturale Range

Overall a great range for moisture retention, i love that the range has a lot of natural and hydrating properties & ingredients.

There’s only 2 products I’ll be repurchasing within this range and that’s the knot out detangler as well as the shampoo .

Washday miracle water to foam shampoo: Very foaming, cleans the scalp without making the hair super dry
Dream clean 3-in-1 cleansing conditioner: Excellent for detangling and re-introducing moisture after shampooing
Afro food afro moisturizing butter: Good for locking in moisture and helped keep my hair moisturized and soft through winter
Curl power curl activator jelly: Lightweight, non-flaking and great for curl definition

The hair food/butter specifically is a MUST HAVE! I have truly never tried anything like it, and I’ve tried a lot of products .. The entire range is filled with so many beneficial ingredients, from rice water to aloe vera to honey! A 10/10 for me

I think these products are amazing, because of the work that they did to my hair. I’m so happy with my hair since I started using them and am getting compliments of promoting healthy hair which also boosted my confidence and the love for my natural hair.

● Did it help to prep and maintain your hair this winter?
So during winter it can become wind and harsh cold air which can suck moisture out of the hair, and cause tangles.
The dryness causes breakage, and split ends, and the shock of extreme temperature changes puts additional stress on natural hair.

● Which product was your favorite to use? Why?
-Curl Activator Jelly is made with aloe vera and coconut water to define and moisturize curls, leaving them shiny and active.
-I love this product because it makes my hair softer and stretchy and curly for the whole day

● Are the products easy to use?
Yes I really like that all products had instructions on how to use it so it made it easier for me to be able to use all of them.

● Did the range leave your hair feeling clean, moisturised and healthy?

Miracle shampoo helped me to deep clean my oily hair. Then detangling conditioner helped me to moisture to prevent tangling and dryness throughout the day. Afro Food Afro moisturiser butter made my hair softer. Curl Activator Jelly helped me to define and moisturize curls, leaving them shiny and active.

● Were you aware of this product range for natural hair?
Not really I just knew other products of dark and lovely and I was using some.

● Will you be switching to or repurchasing the range to take care of your hair this winter?
Definitely a yes, these are my products from now on, they’re already in my takealot cart.

● Would you recommend it to others?

Yes I would, and especially the ones that sees my hair almost everyday and my family as most of them struggles with itching scalp and hair breakag. I’ve been telling them to try these products

I’ve been using the Au Naturale Range from Dark and Lovely for a week now, and here’s my authentic experience:

The Wash Day Miracle to Foam Shampoo did a great job of leaving my hair clean and moisturized. The product’s slip made detangling my hair easier. However, I still needed to use a rat tail comb and rinse my hair with apple cider vinegar beforehand to remove flakes, as the shampoo alone wasn’t enough for that.

Next, the Knot-Out Detangling Conditioner worked well as a rinse-out and detangling conditioner. However, it didn’t provide the level of moisture my hair needs and dried out quicker than expected.

The Afro Food Moisturizing Butter also fell short for me. Despite applying it generously and thoroughly saturating my hair, it left my hair feeling dry.

On a positive note, the Curl Power Curl Activator Gel impressed me. I loved how lightweight and flexible it was when styling my hair, providing hold without any crunchiness.

Overall, while some of the products didn’t fully meet my expectations in terms of moisture, they performed well in other areas, particularly in detangling and styling. These products might work differently for someone with a different hair type or needs. I encourage you to try them out and see how they work for you.

My hair loves this range, from the shampoo to the curling gel. Easy to use and perfect for the winter hair struggles. My hair feels clean and moisturised.
The smell is amazing overall and I will be repurchasing the range.

1. The wash day miracle had my scalp feeling so clean and I didn’t suffer any itching afterwards being that I am a person with a sensitive scalp. The nozzle was so helpful in helping me have access to my scalp when washing.
2. Knot out conditioner detangled my really coiled 4c hair with ease, you just have to use a lot of it. There was stretch to my hair immediately post wash.
3. Afro food moisturising butter kept my hair so hydrated and I could use it daily and just keep my hair in twists, it made styling so much easier because my hair felt so soft.
4. Curl power jelly works so well on natural hair which I find so hard to tame with gels, it didn’t cause flakes or a gel buildup. I could do many different hairstyles using it and gave my hair these beautiful waves.
From my experience the products are amazing and work really well together which is so important. They also leave your hair smelling so good

I’m very impressed with this range. I love that the shampoo has an applicator nozzle because it makes life that much easier and the shampoo lathers really well. The conditioner has good slip and assists really well in the detangling process.

The Afro butter is one of my favourite products in this range. It really moisturises the hair and it lasts. I can style my hair between wash days without needing to remoisturise.

The curl power activator jelly is my MVP from this range. It’s lightweight, smells amazing, moisturising and it really really really activates the curl. My curls pop from this jelly without any manipulation and I will never stop recommending it.
