Detox Bath – Beauty Tips

Need to detox? Here is a beauty tip that helps detoxification of the skin and pores!

So here is my next beauty tip. All ladies love to soak in the bath with some wine and some with a good book, however I think I am the opposite. I hate “soaking” in hot water I feel claustrophobic and would rather be doing something!

As I’m sure you can tell, it is very hard for me to sit back and relax, I am definitely more of a do-er always actively doing things with my hands and making things. My friends laugh at me because even when I’m watching a series I am STILL doing something else.

I received a few things from Beauty Bulletin in December to try and one of the things was a bath “bomb” soap looking thing by LUSH. I was so excited to try it even though I was not looking forward to sitting still, I kind of wanted to get in the bath and then out!

Basically it is this soap looking round ball with a rose in the centre and the instructions are to crumble it under the tap and then it will foam, did all of this and I was so impressed with the amount of foam that came from this little ball. Despite hating baths and soaking, I really enjoyed relaxing with this LUSH bath foam bar, I felt so relaxed and slept like a baby.

This inspired me to do a little research about detox baths and why it is said to make your body and mind so relaxed; here is what I found out:

The science behind a Detox Bath is fairly simple. Sweating is the most common and effective way to detoxify a human body efficiently. Skin pores of a human body react to differences in the temperatures of the surroundings. So when you soak your body in hot water, the pores on your skin open up and all the toxins from your body drain out. The process begins when the bath medium is hot, peaks after the body is immersed for 20 minutes and ends as the temperature falls below the effective degree.

I then found a simple recipe for a detox bath that is cost effective and will making you feel so relaxed and sleep so sweet.

Detox bath recipe

Ingredients:

• Sea salt 1/3 cup – It helps to sooth open sores or blemishes.

• Epsom salt 1/3 cup – It helps to make you sweat more and reduces inflammation.

• Baking soda 1/3 cup – It softens the skin.

• Apple cider vinegar 1 cup – It softens your skin as well as helps with acne.

• Ground ginger 2 1/2 tbsp – It opens up your pores and helps with blood circulation.

Procedure:

• Mix all the dry ingredients in a bowl.

• Prepare a hot water bath, setting the temperature according to your preference. Add the dry ingredients and vinegar while the water fills up the tub, so that these mix in well.

• Soak yourself in the bath for about 20-40 minutes depending on how long you can lay still.

You must remember to drink a lot of water after the bath as you may feel slightly light-headed, if you can only manage 10-15 minutes like me that is also ok and if you want to feel like you a really treating yourself why not add some rose petals and limes/lemons.

Hope this beauty tip detoxifies you as it did me!
