Bring the beauty back to your parched skin with these easy to make, rejuvenating face spritzers!
During the last of these hot, heady months of summer a face spritzer is exactly what your parched skin needs! Face spritzers have multiple uses from hydrating parched skin to keeping you cool in the heat, to even helping to set your makeup! These DIY face spritzers are simple and easy to make, will suit any skin type or skin conditions as well as any budget type.
Luxurious Rosewater Face Spritzer
You can make this face spritzer using fresh roses to make your own rosewater or take the easy route and use store bought rosewater or rose essential oil. If you’re using store bought rosewater, simply mix together 1-2 tablespoons of rosewater with distilled (or boiled) water in a small spray bottle or substitute the rosewater with 5-10 drops of rose essential oil. If you’re using fresh roses, pluck the petals from 2 roses and place it into a small pot with water, and once the water is brought to a rolling boil, remove the pot from the heat. Allow the rose petals to steep in the water for 15 minutes. Then strain to dispose of the rose petals and keep the water which is now infused with the perfume of roses. You have now made your very own rosewater! Decant the rosewater into a small spray bottle and spray on your face as and when needed. Keep the face spritzer in the fridge when it’s not in use.
Refreshing Cucumber and Mint Face Spritzer
You can use dried or fresh mint leaves. The same process will apply to both. Place 2 handfuls of fresh mint leaves (or 2 tablespoons of dried mint leaves) into a small pot with water and once the water is brought to a rolling boil, remove the pot from the heat. Peel or cut the outer layer of a small cucumber (you will only be using the outside of the cucumber so, keep the fleshy insides for a salad later!). Chop the outer layer of the cucumber into smaller pieces and place it into the pot with the water and mint leaves. Allow the mint leaves and the cucumber to steep in the water for 15 minutes. Then strain to dispose of the mint leaves and the cucumber keeping the water which is now infused with mint and cucumber. A normal colander will work well to strain the fresh mint leaves out. However, a normal colander may not strain out fine dried mint leaves. I suggest you try straining the mixture through cheesecloth or muslin. Decant the minty cucumber fresh water mixture into a small spray bottle. You now have your very own refreshing face spritzer! Spray on your face as and when needed. Keep the face spritzer in the fridge when it’s not in use.
Soothing Lavender and Chamomile Face Spritzer
You can use fresh or dried lavender leaves or lavender essential oil in this face spritzer. Place 2 tablespoons of fresh or dried lavender leaves into a small pot with water and once the water is brought to a rolling boil, remove the pot from the heat. Allow the lavender leaves to steep in the water for 15 minutes. Then strain to dispose of the lavender leaves keeping the water which is now infused with lavender. Should a normal colander not work well enough to strain the fine lavender leaves out, try straining the mixture through cheesecloth or muslin. Place 5-10 drops of chamomile essential oil into the mixture and stir to combine. Decant the mixture into a small spray bottle. You now have your very own soothing face spritzer! Spray on your face as and when needed. Keep the face spritzer in the fridge when it’s not in use.
If you’d like to add an extra moisturizing boost to your face spritzer, you can add 1 tablespoon of vegetable glycerine or 5-10 drops of almond oil to the face spritzer mixture. You can add or substitute ingredients as you wish in these face spritzer recipes. So, ladies have fun creating and bringing the beauty back to your skin with your DIY face spritzers!
