Kick up the drama this Valentine’s Day with a pair of long, luscious lashes to compliment your makeup look! Want to know how? Keep calm and read on!
If you thought applying false lashes was brain surgery, think again! Here is a quick and easy guide on how to apply false lashes in the comfort of your own home:
1.False lashes should not look FALSE. The lash length should vary slightly. This is where the importance of trimming comes in. Trimming false lashes individually from one end gives the lash a more natural look. Lashes should be longer towards the outer corner of the eye. This creates a fuller, more genuine appearance. You don’t want your Valentine to thinking he’s on a date with a drag queen!
2.Time to get sticky! Squeeze a few drops of the lash glue onto a hard surface. Wait for it to dry until it becomes tacky. This should take about a minute. Then use a set of tweezers to pick up and dip the lash into the glue. If you do however have a steady hand, you can simply squeeze the adhesive straight from the tube onto the lash strip. Putting glue on a cotton swab or a toothpick and then gliding that across the lash strip works just as well. No matter how you decide to apply the glue, avoid using your fingers. Also, make sure to be generous at both the inner and outer corner of the lash strip. You wouldn’t want the glue to unstick as you blink. I don’t think your Valentine would be impressed either!
3.Once the sticky business is over, use a set of tweezers to pick up the lashes and bring them as close to your natural lash line as possible. Make sure that the gap between your real lashes and the false ones are as tight as possible. Once you have the lash strip in place, press it and hold it down from end to end until the glue dries. This should take about a minute. The longer you hold it in place, the better. You want to make sure the lash stays in place. Scaring your Valentine off with your lashes falling out of place is the last thing you want to be doing this Valentine’s Day!
4. The next step is to curl your lashes with an eyelash curler by gently pinching the lashes at the roots and then moving the curler along the length, making pulse-like squeezes. Before using the eyelash curler, warm it under a blow dryer for a few seconds. Just make sure that the metal isn’t too hot for your eye. You don’t want to cause yourself an eye injury before your Valentine’s Day date!
5.Now you can do your eye makeup. Start with applying mascara. Apply three coats of mascara. Wiggle the wand back and forth at the roots to deposit as much of the mascara as possible. Comb through the mascara while it’s still wet. A spooley brush does wonders! You will end up with long, separated, maximized lashes. Maximizing your lashes is a breeze if you use the right mascara and if you know how to apply it. It really is that simple! The mascara will also help to blend the false lashes with your real ones. To camouflage any space between the false lashes and your natural lash line, use eyeliner. Another way to camouflage false lashes is to apply a dark eyeshadow along the upper lash line. Once you have this covered, you can get as creative with your makeup as you’d like! Just be sure not to overdo it. I’m sure your Valentine will appreciate it!
Just because you weren’t blessed with sky-high lashes does not mean that your world has to come to an end! False lashes really are the next best thing!
They come in a large array of colors and textures. Whether you’re into jeweled, criss-crossed or feathered lashes, false eyelashes can add instant glamour to any makeup look.
They can be worn day or night, and are a fun and easy way to change up your everyday look. So, if you’re going for a subtle or outrageous look this Valentine’s Day, false eyelashes is your must-have beauty necessity!
