The Great Gatsby has turned out to be a movie more than just about the romantic drama it was made to be. The fashion and beauty looks in the film have brought back the sophisticated glitz and glamour of the roaring 20s. Lace, jewels and beads made up most of the looks in that era and it seems we can get to enjoy them 90 years later.
When it came to make up, hair and nails, clean looks with pops of red lipstick and nail polish are the first to come to mind. The nails, in particular were mainly red in colour but varying in shades. However, as the decade went on, pastel colours began to also make their mark.
The most popular nail trend from the Gatsby era was a half-moon look that did not have any nail polish at the top and bottom tips.
Getting this look is not difficult, but it’s not for the faint hearted. You simply need:
1.A base coat
2.Red nail polish of your choice (preferably one that only requires one coat)
3.A top coat
4.Manicure sticker
To get started, put on the base coat and wait for it to dry thoroughly. After that, cut out a half moon shape on the sticker to create the look in the above picture. Paint your nail with the red nail polish and remove the sticker immediately. You can then do this with all the other nails.
Once the red nail polish is dry, neaten up the edges with nail polish remover then apply your top coat. It may look strange at first, but it may end up growing on you.
