What are the skincare benefits of glycerine?
The primary use of glycerine for the skin is as a moisturiser for dry, rough or scaly skin.
When glycerine is applied to the skin, it seals in moisture that might otherwise escape.
Glycerine has humectant properties, drawing water up and into the outer layer of the skin.
What qualities should you look for in a good body wash or cleansing bar?
Body cleansers are an important part of our daily lives. Most body washes have ingredients that not only smell great but also have nourishing effect on the skin; the right body wash is a great way to get the day started! The best body washes are a triple treat: they gently cleanse, they smell great and they make your skin feel smooth and fresh after you wash.
Here are some helpful tips for you when choosing a body wash:
A good body wash should gently wash away impurities without:
– Disturbing the pH balance of the skin
– Drying out the skin
– Irritating the skin
If a body wash is pH balanced, it helps maintain the healthy pH level of the skin.
Acidic cleansers (pH balanced to the skin) are less irritating than neutral or alkaline ones, and people prone to dry skin are advised to use acidic cleansers (pH balanced to the skin)
Why is glycerine a beneficial ingredient in a soap bar?
As we know, glycerine is famous for its moisturising properties. Glycerine can trap or attract moisture into the skin. Glycerine acts like a moisture magnet, attracting and sealing moisture into the skin.
How to wash your face properly:
Wash your hands before you wash your face.
Ideally, you should remove your make-up before washing your face, using either a gentle eye make-up remover or Facial Cleansing Wipes.
-Wash your face twice a day with the correct face wash for your skin type.
-After wetting your face, massage the face wash onto your skin in circular motion for about 30 seconds. Be gentle around the delicate eye area.
-Rinse well with lukewarm water as water that is too cold or too hot, may irritate the skin.
Remember that over-washing can dry out the skin.
If you have been very physically active, wash away the sweat and dirt as soon as possible to prevent them blocking the pores.
Washing your face gives you a natural healthy glow, and is the first and most important step in skin care.
Why do we use an exfoliator in our skincare routine?
We use an exfoliator because it helps to remove dead skin cells.
These dead skin cells can build up and make the skin look dull and dehydrated.
Dead skin cells can also mix with the oil on the skin and clog the pores, possibly leading to break outs and blackheads.
We use an exfoliator because it helps to stimulate the cell renewal process of the skin. This is necessary as after the age of 35, as the cell renewal process slows down.
What is the difference between an exfoliator and a daily exfoliating face wash?
The main difference is the ingredient that acts as the exfoliator.
Daily Exfoliator:
A daily gentle exfoliating face wash like the one in the JOHNSON’S® Daily Essentials range, contains rounded micro beads that gently polish away dull, lifeless skin.
This is a gentle and soft process which means that this product can be used every morning to leave the skin healthy and soft for the day ahead.

The JOHNSON’S® DAILY ESSENTIALS Gentle Daily Exfoliating Face Wash can we used twice a day which is perfect for summer as our skin tends to become more oily in the heat.
If you have an oily skin, you can alternate between the JOHNSON’S® Daily Essentials Oil Balancing Gel Wash and the Gentle Daily Exfoliating Face Wash, OR use one in the morning and one at night.
Exfoliator:
A normal exfoliator contains rougher granules to rub away dead skin cells.
A normal exfoliator should only be used twice per week and in the evenings.
This product should generally be used after the age of 35 and in the evenings before an anti-ageing treatment is applied to the skin.
Why use toner?
Gentle alcohol free toners calm the skin and support cleansers in balancing the skin’s natural pH levels. They also refresh the skin and help remove any dirt or cleanser that may be left over after washing.
Toning is now sometimes called the cleansing stage that follows the first skin care wash.
