Lipidol is an oil based skincare range created by the makers of Bio-Oil. The range consists of six products and I was lucky to be able to try one of them! (Thank you Beauty Bulletin)
I was rather curious about cleansing with facial oil and did some research…
How it works: One would think that when applying oil to your face, that it would create break outs and make your skin even oilier… Normal soap and cleansing products strip away the skins natural oils, therefore our skin loses moisture, becomes more dry and then our skin tries to compensate the lack of moisture by creating more oil, which just creates skin havoc. Lipidol Cleansing Oil removes make up and impurities without disturbing the skins natural oily layer, therefore the skin remains moisturized.
Packaging and product description:
• Minimalistic outer packaging, the focus is on the product.
• The cleansing oil comes in a 125ml transparent, spill proof bottle with a white screw on lid.
• The blue tint in the oil makes the product look refreshing and clean.
• The oil feels fairly light and is fragranced with Rosemary and Niaouli essential oils.
How to use the product:
I poured about a teaspoon of the product into the palm of my hand, rubbed my palms together, and then gently massaged the oil over my face. When the oil started to bind with the make up, I added a dash of water as this causes the oil to emulsify and helps to remove the make up. After the oil had been emulsified and massaged in a bit, I rinsed and gently dried my face with a towel.
Upside:
• The Lipidol Cleansing Face Oil left my skin feeling smooth and moisturized; therefore I had no need to apply extra moisturizer onto my face.
• It removed the majority of my make up.
• There was no residue/oily feeling on my skin after I rinsed the product off.
• The scent is subtle
• Suitable for sensitive skin
• Affordable
Downside:
• It was a bit of a struggle to remove eye make up completely, such as the eyeliner and mascara.
• Product seemed to bother my eyes.
