I was incredibly excited to try out this facial cleansing oil by Lipidol. After trying out the body cleansing oil (which smells amazing, just like Roses Lime Cordial), and being pretty darn impressed by it, I figured that the other Lipidol products were sure to impress. And boy was I right!
The facial cleansing oil is a clear light blue colour, a thick-ish oil in consistency, and it has a fresh, clean, herbal scent to it. I felt like I could smell eucalyptus and rosemary, and it is scented with rosemary and niaouli essential oils. I have sensitive, reactive skin, and due to this I usually shy away from scented products, but I gave this a bash anyway - what better way to show it's goodness, than to prove that even scented, it can still do a great job on irritable skin?
After some research, I discovered that the niaouli essential oil has disinfectant and antiseptic properties, while the rosemary essential oil has a whole contingent of benefits, from improving your mood, relieving pain, helping with circulation, healing and detoxing the skin, as well as being anti-ageing and anti-inflammatory! Basically this cleansing oil is not only cleaning make-up, oil and dirt off of your skin, it's helping to kill any germs and calm any irritations or inflammation too. What a fantastic idea, if it actually works in practice.
I've been putting the cleansing oil through it's paces properly, by using it morning and night. In the morning, I use a small amount to massage into my skin, I add water and let it emulsify, and then rinse it off. It leaves my face feeling fresh and clean and so soft, and the smell is such a mood booster on workdays. At night, I use a little more and really massage it into my skin well, focussing on the areas that had the most make-up on, including my eyes. I add some water so that the oil turns into a creamy white colour, massage a little longer, and then rinse it off with lukewarm water. I don't even need to do a second cleanse, as it gets rid of every last bit of my make-up! Even my waterproof Bourjois mascara didn't stand a chance against this bad boy.
My skin has been looking smooth and even, any redness has definitely calmed down a lot, and it doesn't feel stripped dry and super tight after cleansing, which I love. I often rush to apply moisturiser after cleansing, as my skin feels tight and dry, and I didn't feel that with the Lipidol. I haven't had any breakouts from using an oil to cleanse (those oilier skinned, pimple prone girls will love it!), and I still applied my regular serum and moisturiser after washing, and it didn't feel oily or sticky in the slightest.
I have used a couple of other oil cleansers before, but none exceeded my expectations like the Lipidol cleansing oil, and after I've finished my bottle, I'll most definitely be repurchasing!
