London Fashion Week Makeup Designs

I love London Fashion Week! Ok, I love all the different cities fashion weeks but for different reasons.  They all have their own sense of style and makeup trends. The thing about the Brits designers is that they have such quirky accessories and outlandish outfits that it’s hugely entertaining.  The most entertaining for me was Louise Gray who used toilet rolls as accessories to her outfits and, let’s not forget, the scotch tape bangles!

Other interesting happenings: Mulberry had Max the poodle take the catwalk again this season for another strut, Tom Ford returned after what feels like forever, and Pam Hogg’s models bared all on the runway!

Let’s get down to the makeup trends.  A lot of the designers (Gian Franco Ferre, Gucci, Lanvin, Nina Ricci, Rochas and Versus ) had a new agey goth look – Black eyeliner extended over the lids, colourful smokey eye makeup with dashes of violet or navy, with light pigments in the eye corner for more drama – all topped off with dark red lips with a bright red centre.

For the basic makeup breakdown of my favourites:
•For Mary Katrantzou’ show, every model wore a bangs pinned-in to get the look for that edgy bang.
•Antonio Berardi had his models sporting glossy red lips and white eyeliner which was clean and sophisticated.

•Meadham Kirchhoff went for old school glam with curls, red lips, and trendy hair accessories.
•Mulberry, one of my favourites, went for long hair tucked into the jackets and neutral makeup.  I loved this look with the designs as it was simple and elegant.

•Burberry also went simple and had taupe smoky eyes and wispy hair.
•Vivienne Westwood’s makeup was the most dramatic. The models had painted eyebrows and various colours of lip-liner on top of their white powdered faces and big curls in their hair.  It made them look like clowns but also added drama to the designers looks.

•The Jean-Pierre Braganza had his models wearing a cat-like, eye-elongating eye makeup and defined cheekbones. Dramatic!
•Topshop had their models in a soft smoky cornflower blue kind of like something out of the 1980s.

•Emilio De La Morena had his models wearing red eyeliner (it looks a lot nicer than it sounds) and a bronze metallic kind of red shade that was smudgy in the outer corner and underneath only. Interesting look.
•House of Holland had fun, quirky and sparkly makeup with big smudges of glitter in the corner of the eyes.

And, there you have it ladies! With this makeup designs, London Fashion Week has proved not only to be a fashion inspiration, but a makeup inspiration too!
