I normally add a small amount to my hair after washing my hair, so that when it dries naturally it looks shiny and feels really smooth. I also use it on dry hair when straightening, and once i have straightened my hair i just run it through my ends to finish it off. A small amount goes a long way, too. Literally one drop can be used on a full head of hair :)
