Thought you knew how to care for your skin? Think again!
Cleanse, tone, moisturise. You know the drill, right? Wrong!
An influx of products on the market mean that more often then not we’re applying our skincare products in the wrong order. When that happens our products don’t work to the best of their ability. Follow our simple skincare steps below, for your greatest skin yet.
Step 1: Cleanse
Use a good cleanser like the Olay Regenerist Skin Perfecting Cleanser (R99.99). Use lukewarm water and massage your cleanser into your skin using circular movements. You can also try a cleansing device, like the Olay Regenerist 3 point Cleansing System (R334.99), which offers four times better cleansing than your hands!
Step 2: Exfoliate
Exfoliating in the morning is best as your skin renews itself as you sleep. This means that in the morning there’s lots of dead skin cells to slough away. Be gentle and exfoliate 2-3 times a week. If you’d like to combine step one and two then opt for a cleanser with exfoliating beads, like the Olay Regenerist Skin Perfecting Cleanser (R99.99).
Step 3: Tone
There’s a lot of speculation surrounding the toner as many believe that your cleanser should work well enough to remove all impurities and make-up and that toning is an unnecessary step. Others can’t go the day without toning their skin, so if you’d like to then now’s the time to do it.
Step 4: Target and Treat
If you’re treating your skin for conditions such as acne, or are dead set on winning the wrinkle war, then now’s the time to do it. Olay have a wide range of targeted serums that target every sign of ageing. Take your pick from the following: Olay Regenerist 30 second Wrinkle Filler (R269.99), Olay Regenerist Wrinkle Relaxing Complex (R269.99), Olay Regenerist 3 Point Super Firming Serum (R269.99), Olay Regenerist Microsculpting Super Firming Serum (R269.99) or the Olay Regenerist Regenerating Serum.
For the delicate eye area choose the Olay Regenerist Eye Lifting Serum (R219.99).
Step 5: Moisturizer
There’s a plethora of creams you can use, depending on your skin type. If you have dry skin opt for something super hydrating, like the Olay Regenerist Rehydrating UV Lotion SPF15 (R219.99). If you’re concerned about sagging skin then the Olay Regenerist 3 Point Super Age-Defying Cream (R269.99) or the Microsculpting Super Firming Cream SPF30 (R269.99) are your new best friends. For those looking for a simple moisturiser that offers deep hydration and protection then the Olay Regenerist Regenerating Day Cream (R219.99) is for you. Whichever moisturiser you opt for, always look for one with a SPF of 15 or above.
Step 6: Sun Protection
The final step in your skincare routine and probably the most important. We can’t stress enough the importance of wearing suitable suncream on your face, even if your moisturiser has one included in its formula. Apply your sun protection before make-up application.
Come night time be sure to swap your day cream for a rich night cream, like the Olay Regenerist Regenerating Night Cream (R219.99). Night creams are generally thicker than day creams and are packed full of nourishing ingredients that treat your skin while you sleep. You also don’t need to apply a suncream to your face at night, but don’t skip this step in the morning!
