How does one wear makeup to best enhance their eyes underneath their glasses?
Glasses are very trendy nowadays. They are no longer the bane of women’s’ lives, and some ladies often opt for glasses instead of contact lenses because they just prefer the ‘look’ .With all the super frames available nowadays, a good pair of eye-glasses can actually almost enhance your look.
Well, don’t think that you can’t wear make-up!
That is simply not true!
What you can do though is enhance your eyes.
Depending on the strength of your lenses, you will have to adapt your technique and colour usage accordingly. For example; Ladies that are short sighted tend to have glasses that make their eyes appear smaller. Thus all the tricks of making your eyes appear bigger would apply here! Don’t line the inner rim of your eyes with a dark liner; this will make them look even smaller. Remember the rule that light colours make something appear bigger, whereas dark colours make a feature recede or look smaller? Rather line the inner rims of your eyes with a light cream or even a very light blue eye-liner.
Also use thickening mascara as opposed to a lengthening one. You don’t want your lashes rubbing up on the lenses of your glasses. One trick that really works to avoid lashes from touching your lenses and it also really helps your eyes appear ‘awake’ and pretty, is to curl your eye-lashes first with an eye –lash curler, and then apply your thickening mascara on top.
Defining your eyes with a little liner as close to the lash-line as possible is also a must for eye-glass wearers. You want your peepers to stand out and not disappear behind your glasses, so definition is a must.

If you are wearing eye glasses because you are long sighted, then your lenses will probably make your eyes appear bigger. Eye make-up should be applied well and blended properly as your glasses will magnify any imperfections. Try darker colours on your lids, to reduce your ‘big eyes’ and once again, define eyes generously with liner. What also works well is to apply kohl liner in a ‘C’ shape on the outer corners of your eyes. Kohl liners look great for fast and easy application as you don’t need to apply it in a perfect line as they are meant to be softened and smudged into the lash-line. Perfect for when you are in a hurry! Eye- shadow can then be applied over the kohl liner for an even and expert make-up look!
N.B. Brows should be well groomed and neat. A bit of shimmery cream highlighter under the arch of the brow looks great to highlight a well shaped brow and enhances the beauty of the eye.
