If a natural freshwater spring running through a Japanese garden in full bloom had a scent, what would it be?

This is the thought that occupied the mind of Japanese fashion designer Issey Miyake when he embarked on the process of creating what has become one of the world’s biggest selling timeless, yet contemporary fragrances.

L’eau D’Issey, the product of Miyake’s collaboration with expert nose Jacques Cavallier, is equal parts 90’s minimalism and noughties freshness and warmth. Sparkling, yet serene, the fragrance is still as popular with the tinsel town set (Michelle Williams, Emma Button and Alicia Keys are fans) as it is with women of all walks of life, all around the world.
