Easy does it, says the fiery hot summer sun this season! We say hello to this fresh and fabulous start with some of our favourite beauty trends for 2013. From glamorous, smouldering eyes to vibrant colours, there is no getting away from the fact this is going to be one sweltering summer! But the focus being on the most significant trend for SS2013, which is keeping a minimalist approach.

Go Natural
Sometimes the best makeup is nearly none at all. It’s all about keeping it as natural as possible, with glowy skin and bare-minimum eyes, a little mascara and you are ready to go. I have seen some play with a hint of a tinted lip balm or slight smudge of eyeliner but mainly focusing on contouring the skin, which keeps it looking effortlessly flawless. It’s as simple as reaching for your favourite concealer, tinted moisturizer, and bronzer. Colour Pop
Natural is always beautiful but Neon Colours are coming out to play this summer. The main colour in the spotlight is definitely PINK. Silver metallic and gold metal also adorned the runways and lit up the eyes of models worldwide. But it’s all about keeping it simple by focusing your “colour pop” to one part of the face. For example, if we play with the eyes, do a more nude lip and keep the rest of the face completely bare. Other colours taking over this season include: blue, green, purple and tangerine.

Matte Lips

Popped lips are the perfect trend to compliment the bright summer. The hot pinks and neon shades are showing up everywhere along with our firm favourite reds. Whether it’s a deep burgundy red, gorgeous orange or a beautiful lilac you are sure to be the centre of the sun so long as you choose a matte shade. MAC Ruby Woo is one of my all time cherished matte shades, which epitomizes this look to utter perfection.

Bold Brows
Over tweezed brows is very much a thing of the past. We now are looking at Statement brows that are more natural and “fluffed-up”. It’s time to hop straight into this trend as it is definitely here to stay! The Natural brow shape is always a winner but if you really want to perfect this look we recommend getting this done professionally and walking away with beautifully balanced brows.

Nails
It’s time to show off those perfectly polished nails this summer with aqua, pastels, peach, nudes, metallic flashes, coral, lilac and turquoise colours. Shades by Essie and OPI will give you an array of these vibrant colours to choose from to suit your summer mood.
