I use the Essence Mattifying Compact Powder in Mahogany. It is a shade or two darker than my natural skin tone, but it makes for a great buildable powder contour. As it is buildable, it is not too harsh, making it a perfect addition to my every day beauty routine.
The powder has a nice formula that is easy to blend (if using as a contour powder, like me). It settles nicely into the skin and lasts all day with the help of a setting spray. On one day I forgot to apply my setting spray, I was pleasantly surprised to see it last from about 08h00 when I applied my makeup, to about 16h00 when I got home after a full day of activity.
I love this so much as an every day contour powder, that I might just pop out and get a lighter shade to use as a setting powder.
I love being able to set my foundation and concealer especially under my eyes to avoid creases and this is definitely my go to setting powder. It prevents any creasing and fine lines appearing. It doesn't look cakey on my skin as long as I don't apply too many layers and provides a natural looking matte finish.
I have a problem with oily skin and am always on the hunt for a great, mattifying powder.
I don't think that the colour I picked was a 100% match to my skin tone, but it wasn't too bad. In terms of its mattifying effect, it worked well at first, but during the day I did notice that my skin was looking oily. I cannot say that I blame the powder for this as I have used tons of products and none manage to leave my skin matt all day without touch-ups!
For the price it is a good product and I will probably purchase again.
I love Essence and purchased this despite the colour not being quite right for me.
The powder itself is lovely quality and lasts really well, and is small enough that it fits easily into my makeup bag for touch ups.
I just wish that Essence had a larger colour range as none of them are spot on for my skin, and the one that is closest is a little too orange.
this product is really nice and affordable but in the essence compact powder range , they only have 4 colors to choose from , I have a very light almost pale skin tone and when using their powders it tends to give my skin a pinkish tint , not too nice, but when used with a bronzer it looks better :)
