I used this foundation for quite some time and I must say that it works really well. It has buildable coverage and not much is needed. The tub may look small but it lasts for months, even with everyday usage. It blends well.
I'm not a fan of the packaging. The shape allows for the mousse to get 'stuck' in a ring at the bottom. It can also be unhygienic if you use your fingers.
When paired with a good concealer, it lasted the whole day. In summer, however, I needed a touch up. It also doesn't settle into fine lines and does not start to 'cake'.
The range of colours is very limited - with many of the mousses being too light. The darkest shade is too dark for m skin and the lighter shade in the range is way too light (if there was a shade between them it would've been great). The lighter shades have a pink undertone and the darkest shade had an orange undertone - which may not suit some skin tones.
It doesn't make your face shiny so it's great for oily skin. And at such an affordable price, it's worth a try.
I used this back in highschool when I still had normal skin with a minor breakout now and then. Since then my skin changed into a dry and sometimes combination skin. I purchased this again the other day when I remembered how much I loved this foundation. Back in school I repurchased this a 1000 times! I tried it on my skin now and I wasn't all that happy. I will list the pros and cons of this foundation used on my skintype.
Pros:
1. Really great texture.
2. Blends easily.
3. Amazing coverage.
4. Beautiful finish.
5. Doesn't contain SPF and therefore photographs well!
6. Good for oily skin.
7. Applies easily with your fingers.
Cons:
1. Not suitabke for dry skin as it will make dry patches more noticible.
2. Rubs off on clothes or when you wipe your nose.
3. Can become patchy during the day when you sweat.
4. Not a lot of ways to apply this. Best tool to use would be your fingers.
5. Longest it will hold is about 5-6 hours.
6. Shades are limited. Lightest shade is way too pink!
I think this is the best mousse out there and for the price it can't be beat! Would've kept on using it if my skin didn't change this much! Great product, just not for me anymore.
This morning I decided to try the essence soft touch mouse foundation that was sent to me to review, at first i was put off by the mouse foundation because i had previously used a different brand of mouse foundation as was not at all happy with the results. This foundation however went on so smoothly and gave me a mat smooth silky finish that I was very pleased with. I must say although the coverage isn't that great i would definitely recommend this foundation to girls who have a good skin without any pigmentation that are looking to cover up just a little. It gave me a mat smooth silky finish and blended so easily! One downside to this foundation is it's durability, although it went on great and looked lovely for a few hours it didn't last long at all and eventually looked as if i had no foundation on later in the day. I would definitely wear this foundation around the house but if i were to be going out or to work i would use a more durable foundation.
This is by far thee most luxurious mousse makeup that is also affordable. It glided in smoothly and gave me that airbrushed look, its absolutely a keeper!
Downside: none
Upside: why, everything
Chocolate for my face yay!
I have never been a fan of mousse makeups and was quite hesitant to give this one a try. The problem with them are usually that they do not last the whole day and that they do not give enough coverage.
So not the case with this product. To be honest, this products had me eating a piece of my own humble pie.
The consistency is a creamy, velvety foundations that is lightweight. The results are a smooth, matte finish that looks natural and soft.
For me it covers up medium and the lasting power is also medium. But that is fine with me because this medium is better than I used to when I use lightweight foundations.
Just be aware that this product is meant to look matte and lightweight, so do not make the mistake of applying over applying until you have a caked up look.
My verdict, a wonderful budget friendly foundation that should be kept in very ladie's makeup bag.
The make-up range with a super delicate mousse texture gives your face a smooth and natural-looking matt complexion while allowing your skin to breathe freely
The best performing make-up range is being extended
Improvement of colour choice to fit market needs
Launch of highly demanded shade in darker and lighter colour shade extension with new caramel shade, new mahogany shade and new porcelain shade
Essence soft touch mousse remind me of Maybelline dream matte mousse in all ways and really is a true dupe from packaging to quality and feel.
Packaging wise it comes in a glass jar which is not as travel friendly as it’s heavier and prone to breaking.
It definitely feels and looks like mousse the product glides on like velvet most likely due to all the silicone in it. Is extremely light weigh I barely notice I have it on and it offers a very high coverage since its thick enough to sit on top of the face rather than be absorbed. It sets to a nice matte finish and stays put on the face all day. This foundation is perfect for oily skinned girls as it is oil free and keeps the shine away from your T-zone all day. The texture is amazingly soft and does a great job at concealing blemishes and redness in the process. Product is best applied with you fingers due to the thick texture there is really no way to apply it with a brush but if you really don’t want to use your hands you can use a makeup sponge or beauty blender.
You can find these at Clicks and selected Dis-chem stores at only R69.95 they are as cheap as chips.
I tend to agree with the other reviewers that even though it goes on smoothly, it cakes during the day. Good colour for my very fair skin, but not long lastin
The range is ideal for younger skins as it still allows one skin to breath freely and the texture is soft and extremely natural looking. Perfect for that No Make-up make-up look. The overall effect of the Soft Touch Mousse is highly mattifying and I have been using it specifically on my oilier t-zone to avoid shine. It blends into ones skin quite easily and one doesn’t even feel the need to use application tools such as brushes or beauty blenders.
Have you ever looked in the mirror and realised that your makeup looks oil ? thick ? and its not giving you that flawless look? well then you have to try essence mouse. I have really bad skin and when my friend gave me some of hers to try I was amazed at how light and great it looked on my skin it covered all my problem areas and I look great ! this is a product you wont want to miss look , all though it looks small you can go a long way with it mine lasts 1 to 1 and half months per bottle which is great when it comes to budget budget1 in todays economy not everyone can afford R300s mouse, this product in under R60 and it last a long time ! what more can you ask for light wearing , flawless face all from one product ! it don't get better the ESSENCE!
I just love Essence products more, the more I use them. I was so pleasantly surprised by this little number. I have marks on my skin, so usually can only go for more expensive foundation that covers really well. This little mousse covered my scars completely. It even gave my dry skin a smooth matte finish, where other similar products used to accentuate my dry skin and make it appear flaky. I do agree that it is not as long lasting, but I found when I apply some compacted powder over it, it does last longer.
The price is fantastic. I do agree though that the design of the bottle left way to be desired. One tend to have to dig into it, especially towards the end of the product. That is however a small price to pay for a great little product and the right price! Not for everyone I agree, but I love it!
I have been a huge Essence supporter as I have watched them improve their range and never charge a fortune for professional products. Essence is the one brand that has a little bit of everything, from skin care to nail art to a stunning make up range! I purchased the Soft Touch Mousse in 04 – Matt Ivory, at first it was great product, and when I noticed they were discontinuing it, in this very shade – I stocked up on about 4 of these bottles. I thoroughly dislike the bottle design, as once you have used the surface, you are forced to dig your finger in on the sides which means the foundation gets under your nails. I also found that although this spread so nicely over the skin and is a stunning matt finish, it wasn’t very long lasting and often gave a “crumby” look from about midday. It tends to go towards any blemishes or scars, and instead of covering them – highlights it with unflattering blobs! I decided to use this product as a concealer instead, which works great! I used a patting motion under my eyes and over blemishes, and then applied a foundation over it – fantastic!
This foundation is very budget friendly, but I find it a bit dry as it tends to be flaky. For me it works better on small areas needing concealing as opposed to the whole facial area.
This was really good value for money although I have problems with the foundation rubing off if I was active during the day. Defenitely not a long lasting foundation, but very light and not oily.
