There is nothing sexier than a wonderful lipstick with a gloss in it as well and this is truly just that, with the addeded staying power, its wonderful for night and day wear, I especially loved the Brillian Bordeaux - its very difficult to find a good red lipstick with blue undertone rather than orange, so I loved this one.
I recieved the Revlon ColorStay Ultimate - Liquid Lipstick from the BeautyBulletin VIP Member section. Boy was I surprised! I've just gotten out of a relationship and what better change than a new lipstick to try out!
The packaging of the product is done neatly and it almost looks like a see-through glass lipstick. The colour I got was "Maximum Mocha" a colour I believe is perfect for day wear. It looks natural but still has that extra colour to lighten up your face. I'm very fair and it fitted my skin type perfectly. The colour has small glitter particles to also give your lips and extra glow. I found the applicator at times to have a bit too much lipstick on, but that isn't a big boogie. The lipstick itself also isn't sticky.
Revlon claims the lipstick last 24 hours. When I wore it, it lasted max 4 hours and that was wind, sun and eating included. Who needs lipstick to last 24 hours anyways? I just need a lipstick to get me through a meeting, than dinner with a cutie or to look good and last on a night out with friends.
If your looking for lipstick that can keep up with your lifestyle, the Revlon ColorSray Ultimate Lipstick is for you!
This shade in Smooth Nude made quite a buzz online internationally (as a lot of nude lipsticks do). It is a completely beige concealer type of nude. It erases your lips off the face of the earth and allows you to play up your eyes or cheeks instead. It is a total neutral on my skin tone. It doesn't look too white or orange. It is completely matte in texture but has just the slightest hint of pearlescence in it but really practically invisible.
Revlon Colorstay range of lipsticks really last long on the lips. They have a very unique texture. When you apply the lipstick it has a very smooth buttery texture. You don't need to go over more than once - the coverage is opaque straight away. As the lipstick sets it becomes totally matte and dry on the lips. As a result it lasts a lot longer then your usual lippie. The downside of it is they drying effect on the lips as well as looking a bit chalky and pasty. On its own it doesn't look too good on me as time goes by as it starts looking more and more cakey. The way to counteract it, is simply to add lipgloss on top! It actually works amazingly under a gloss because it completely erases the natural color of the lips (purplish in my case) and allows the true colour of the lipgloss to come through. It looks great under light pinks and corals that normally look muddy on my lips. Because of its matte texture it becomes a great sticky base that makes the glosses last a lot longer and keeps it from sliding all over!
Overall I recommend this lippie only as a base under glosses. If you are looking for a nude lippie to wear on its own I would rather go for something creamier.
The colorstay range of Revlon lipsticks has a slimmer design and a completely different feel and texture to all their other lipsticks. They first go on extremely creamy and smooth. It feels like they are melting when coming in contact with your lips. As the day goes on they really set into your lips and unfortunately dry them out as well. It is however very long lasting due to that drier texture.
Cozy Coral shade is very unique. It is a pearl finish so it shows up very frosty. The colour is a peachy coral with gold shimmer. It is almosy honey colour so don't expect any bright coral colour. I don't normally like frosty lipstick but this shade does a great job at just brightening the complexion and it doesn't look garish at all. I always wear this shade on top of lip balm as it can look a bit cakey. It is also best to top it up with a clear gloss to keep it from drying.
The lipstick doesn't have any discernable flavour or smell.
I am very happy with the purchase - the colour is very pretty and really lightens up my face. I am prepared to live with the drying effect as the price was so worth it!
I got this when it first came out. I am totally crazy about nude lipsticks that they make the majority of my stash. But the interesting thing is that nudes can vary hugely in their undertones and tints. This particular lipstick was definitely one of the lightest I own. It is pretty much beige with just a tad of peach undertone. On me (I have dark lips which makes the lipstick look lighter) it is just one tiny step above wearing concealer on my lips. It comes off very pale but still within the range of being wearable on its own. What I do like is that it cancells out the natural colour of my lip so I can wear nice light lipglosses on top which normally don't show up on my dark lips. Make sure to make another feature of your face (eyes or cheeks) stand out enough otherwise this lipstick can make you look washed out and bland...It contains no shimmer.
The coverage is pretty decent. It applies smoothly and I don't find it drying. Just as the girls below said, you really need to exfoliate and moisturise your lips before wearing it, because it emphasizes dryness and wrinkles.
