after all the ranting and raving I couldn't wait to get my hands on these :) I tried them and I loved the fact that it comes in a small cute package that looks like sweetie wrappers - but after trying it I must say I don't really like how it "absorbs" - if that's what you can call it , when removing these tampons they come out all squished and almost 'messy; - they cant compare to lillets in that department - the only thing I loved about this was the packaging - im going to stick to lillets and what I know - when using lillets I almost feel like they are less messy and 'stronger' - tampax is not my Fav brand
Firstly, my package arrived super fast. So loads of love to you girls over at BB. Secondly, I liked the packaging. Pretty and girly, making it a little more bearable having to go through periods every month.
I have always loved using tampons. They are just so much more effective than pads. Tampax was the first ones I ever tried too, as those were the ones my mom used. But they had a problem then, and it is the same problem I have with them now.
I do love the new compak version - they are way more discreet to carry around, especially if you are on your way to the loo and don't have a pocket. And the applicator defs makes it easier to use. So big thumbs up there.
But my problems are the following:
Way too much packaging for such a small thing. And you use so many, imagine how the papers and applicators pile up each month!
They just don't expand the way other tampons do. Yes they are absorbent, but instead of expanding width ways to sit tightly inside you, these still expand length ways. Which means that every time I used one, it leaked. As opposed to other brands I've tried that expand width ways. It also didn't matter if I used the size I am supposed to, or a bigger one. And yes, I did change it every 4 or 5 hours as they say on the packaging. This meant that I couldn't sleep with them and had to use another brand at night.
So in general, I was NOT happy with them. The reason I use tampons is to not have to worry about anything leaking or making me uncomfortable. So these are at the bottom of my list.
Very nicely packaged product and funky colours. I love the fact that is compact and handbag size the only problem is the appilcator does not release much of the tampon to be inserted. I found it difficult to use as I am not too comfortable inserting too much of the appilcator. When I did try it also did not release the tampon so when I pulled it out the tampon was still attached to the applicator.
I have only once in my life used tampons with applicators before testing Tampax Compact, and not sure whether I will again. I struggled to get the applicator to work, it was as if the pull out part was stuck and I had to go so far as to use my teeth to get it open. Using my teeth on a tampon is not my kind of fun..
Furthermore, the tampon did not "blow up" as much as my normal tampons does, it went in as a long and thin tampon and came out as such. I felt that I had to change it more often to prevent it from bleeding through.
On the positive side though, it is way better than the old cardboard like applicators, and once I got the hang of it, it was easy to use, just not efficient enough for me.
It was my first time ever using tampons. What an awkward yet learning experience. Thank you for sharing this product with me. At least, by receiving it, I had to try it out for myself. Now I know how comfortable tampons are and I would also recommend it to everyone.
I received the product a few months ago a little after I needed them so I had to wait some time before I could use them. I was super excited! The packaging is great, and the individually wrapped tampons are so inconspicuous- just like i like them.
The applicator is great and small and easy to use. The tampons themselves are smooth and feel great - because I could not feel them at all,
The only problem I had was absorbency is terrible! I had a regular and super pack and both were not of any use to me after day 1. I have a particularly heavy flow on day 2-3. I did not last past 30 min with the one tampon.
I really wanted to love this product. With all my heart, I wanted to, but essentially, I need a tampon that absorbs and keeps me comfortable, more than one I can carry in my bag with ease. :( Its a Nay from me.
Thank you for allowing me to be part of the tampax review group.
The packaging is very neat and the actual paper is very cute and discreet anyone would think im carrying around candy lol.
However on my first day i attempted to use it was not successful i had to remove it. It was my first time using a tampon with a applicator.
I then read the instructions again and attempted it for the second time and i was still unsuccessful ended up removing it
on my third attempt i finally got it.
After using it for 3 days i dont think tampax is for me i found it to be too much of a hassle
However i found the tampon to be of very high quality and would recommend it to those looking at quality.
I was so happy to be selected to be one of the reviewers for this product...yay for me free tampons for atleast the next to months.
I thought the tampons were nicely wrapped but perhaps the colours would appeal more to teenagers though. Then I patiently waited for the arrival of aunty-flow.
When my period started I was surprisingly happy as it was time to try something new. And so I did...nice soft tip, smoother glide but that was it. The actual tampons are for me underwhelming, the next few times I struggled to insert then and I find having to twist them for better insertion quiet redundant.
I believe there is much room for improvement and consequently I'm not motivated to change my current brand of tampon.
I used Tampax applicator tampons regurally before but i had to change because i was just not happy with the overal product-unfortunately, i dont have a great review and i doubt i will be going back to Tampax.
i must admit- i love the new packaging- i think tampax has really come-up with a great innovation with regards to the compack pack- it is so easy to carry around and just in case a tampon falls on the ground in public- the cool packaging saves any girl the embarrassment- because it looks like a sweet or any delicious candy-'if they only knew what it really is, lol'.
Honestly, i am not happy about the design of the actual tampon, i feel it does not 'fill' as other tampons such a Lillets does, once it opens or absorbs the liquid, it becomes flatish and spreads. if you look at the design of the lillet- it is rounded and as it absorbs, it fills up growing in width of the circle offering better protection.
Also i dont like the feeling of the Tampax tampon, it just feels of low quality- after all the effort that goes into the packaging- i think Tampax should rather focus on the actual tampon quality. i cant help but compare to the Lillets, i just feel the Tampax is sub-grade- it is not a well rounded and finished product as Lil'lets or Kotex.
Thank you Beauty Bulletin for the opportunity to review the product- i hope Tampax developers pay attention to the reviews, with improvements to the overall quality and design of the actual tampon- they will have a great product.
First of all, thank you SO much BB for allowing me to review this product - Tampak Compak (Regular and Super mixed pack). As always, I am SO grateful to get new products to try and test :)
For over 10 years I've been using Lil-lets tampons, without the applicator. But I was very excited to try something new. However, I will always be 100% honest in my reviews and I have to admit that I am not a fan of these tampons. As with everything though, there are pros and cons.
Pros:
- The packaging is pretty, discreet and I really liked the colours!
- I love what the applicator is made of, it had a nice feel to it and looked appealing too (for what it is ;) )
- Ease of use (they were very easy to use and insert).
Cons:
- When I pulled it out, it was very long and "stringy". It had completely lost it's shape and looked quite frightening (I managed to find a picture which depicted this - see attached).
- It didn't absorb as much as my current tampon does.
It's because of the cons that I won't be buying these after I've used up this pack. I truly don't believe that they are more effective (or even equal to) my current brand.
In conclusion: Tampak, you got it right with the packaging and applicator, but you need to work on your actual tampon quality before you win me over ;)
To be honest.... I love the idea of the Tampax Compak and I LOVE the applicator as it is soft, however, I don't the actual tampon itself.
It does not insert deep enough and I had to either take it out and put it a new one or manually push it in. The tampon itself is also not as soft as the normal l (i.e. non applicator) tampons I have been using, so the pulling it out part was a bit unpleasant for me. It just does not feel at all like a non applicator tampon. It almost gave me the feeling that it was longer as well and did not absorb as much. Mostly though, the main problem for me was that it does not go in deep enough - which defeats the whole purpose of having an applicator.
I love the idea of the cute wrapper and the soft plastic, however, I don't think I will be purchasing this in the future unless they change feel and adjust the applicator.
I was so happy to have been chosen as part of the Tampax Compak review club. I have been using the another brand of tampons for a long time, so I was looking forward to trying something new.
The plastic applicator is easy to use and much more comfortable than its cardboard counterparts.
The packaging is cute and you don't have to hide them cos they look like sweet wrappers.
The Tampon itself was not the best I've ever used. there was leaking and dirty underwear and needless to say I was not very impressed. Maybe it was the applicator, i don't know but I will be giving another fighting chance in the near future.
Being a Lil-lets user, i have to admit that i found the Tampax tampons a bit uncomfortable. I felt the applicator was bulkier than the Lil-lets making it a bit more uncomfortable to insert. i also didn't like the material and the way it fanned out once inserted compared to the way the Lil-lets opens up. However it is absorbent and much better than using pads.
After I received my box I was very much excited. I tried them out 2 days later and was not really impressed by the plastic applicator, it was not very comfortable to use but the tampon itself after removing the applicator is comfortable and you can't even feel it's there.
The packaging however is really cute and discreet as it looks like little sweet packets. The Size is also small which also helps. I checked them out at the local stores and found that they are quite affordable.
To sum this all up, I would buy them again but without the applicator because for the first time I was able to sleep the whole night with a tampon and wake up with clean underwear, with other brands I have to change it in the middle of the night.
I received my box of these cute, discreet tampons at the right time but I wasn't very impressed when I tried them. The plastic applicator was pretty uncomfortable when inserting the tampon :( I usually use another brand or sometimes opt for sanitary pads instead as it is much more safer. Tampax is great when going out or visiting the beach.
